Lamezia, a Calabrian Family History
Lamezia is our family-run Italian restaurant.
We named it after the city in the beautiful southern Italian region of Calabria that we come from.
Our food is simple and honest - fresh pasta and pizza - made from lots of authentic Calabrian ingredients. We combine trusted Italian traditions with exciting new twists and keep our menus updated seasonally.
Born in Lamezia, a city in the beautiful southern Italian region of Calabria, Franco & his family arrived in London 23 years ago. Since opening the family business in 2009, they have been quietly creating and serving Calabrian dishes, using genuine ingredients for their loyal customers on Holloway Road in Islington.
Lamezia's signature ingredient, the Nduja, a Calabrian spicy spreadable salami, was first served at Lamezia, just over ten years ago, when Franco, who would spread the spicy pork salami, onto bread for a quick snack, saw a delicious opportunity to use it as a bruschetta topping which later became the popular "Bruschetta Piccante", subsequently he decided to use this opportunity to add this ingredient as a topping for pizza which became another very popular dish - the "Nduja Pizza". It went on Lamezia's menu back in 2009, and have both been a best-seller ever since.
The dishes we serve you at Lamezia are homemade using well-loved recipes passed down the generations of the family. Along the way, we have perfected them, to make sure they stand the test of time and stay true to our Calabrian roots.
We start early every day baking our own bread, arancini & focaccia's (our filled focaccia's fillings change daily).
Next up its fresh pasta, from tagliatelle to ravioli to serve with delicious seasonally-changing fillings.
We're especially proud of our spicy carbonara "Carbonara Piccante" - the classic Carbonara dish with N'duja - soft, spreadable salami, which melts with the other ingredients and gives a lovely spicy kick - if you prefer more spice, ask for Mamma's homemade chilli oil....it's very spicy! We always have a constant fresh supply made here in our kitchen.

We love this place. It's always been perfectly good but now it's even better. The fresh pasta is fantastic and the service extremely friendly. My husband and I enjoy and quiet meal for two here but it's also great for bringing our families - bright decor, fresh flowers and comfortable seating. It's excellent value and I can't recommend Lamezia highly enough.

I can honestly say this is the best Italian restaurant I have eaten in since leaving Italy. The service was good the hots were polite, friendly and are wonderful people, the food !!!! Oh wow, I cannot rate it highly enough I am willing to travel a long way for food of this quality.

I've been a local for few years and even now when I'm in the area I pop in for an espresso or a quick munch; can't beat the place for friendly and authentic Italian atmosphere. Fresh ingredients and real homemade Italian cooking complete a perfect picture. The only problem for me: they're Juventus supporters... highly recommended!
